INLS161-001 | Spring 2018

Task 02: Web Development

Tasks due by 11:59 p.m. on due date.

Task02 GRADE SHEET (this is working now!)

There is a error with the grade sheet on excel row 21 and 22. Ignore these directions. Follow the example in the version 3 sample site and you will be fine. Your third level pages are your class pages, and your links to your future projects are all on your INLS 161 page.

This was a bit confusing, so I have updated it as of Friday 10:50 a.m. February 2, 2018. If it is still unclear, feel free to email the instructor with any questions.

For those of you planning to use a theme that you find on your own, you can skip the full 2.1 exercise and create your own hard coded page demonstrating the skills you need to do for your Task 2.1 grades. If you follow along in class, you will be able to do this on Monday 2/5/2018. We will do a quick, simple, hardcoded page before working on the first step of the 2.1 exercise. On Wednesday 2/7/2018, we will work on building out the full site with the 2.1 exercise for those that plan to use 2.1 for their final web site. Others will work on on adapting their theme to satisfy the grade sheet requirements, which I will also demonstrate.

If you do the Black Goose Bistro Page in the HTML Session reading, and post that to OPAL, that will count toward your hard coded page; but you don't want to use it as a foundation for your final website.

If you plan to skip ALL of the 2.1 exercise, you need to submit your own hard coded page that meets the grade requirements by 12 p.m. 02/07/2018. (you should be able to get this done in class on Monday.) Those of you doing the 2.1 task you only have to do the index.html page and make sure you are able to link to the css files and post to opal. You will finish the rest of the pages over the course of the web development sessions.

2.1 Gitclone, fork, or download the 2.1 Starter theme and do the 12 13 steps (I added one more step so your work-flow will go better!) Wait to start on this until after the first HTML class. If you are going to use the 2.1 Starter theme, this will satisfy your hard coded page requirements and it will give you clear directions to flesh out your final project. However, if you find a good theme that you like, you may find that more to your liking. You will have a better idea of how to proceed after completing the first two classes. due 02/07 FIRM
2.2 Regardless of your theme choice, you must complete all of the tasks detailed in the Grade sheet. See this page for more in depth info that is not covered in the grade sheet. Web Development Task details. due 02/25
