Course Objectives
By the end of the course, we will be able to:
- have a sense for the underlying philosophical and political structures that have and continue to sustain public libraries
- have a feel for the place of the public library in the community, and in our own communities
- think critically about some of the challenges facing public libraries in today's environment
- understand how to articulate the need for specific public library services
- feel confident in our abilities as public library supporters, sustainers, and enthusiasts
