From the Airport

Once you arrive at Raleigh-Durham International Airport, the following shuttle and taxi services can help you get to Chapel Hill:

By Car or Taxi

From Washington, DC

Take Interstate 95 south to Interstate 85 south at Petersburg, Virginia. When you get to Durham, North Carolina, pick up US Highway 15-501 Bypass at Exit 174—not 15-501 Business (which goes through downtown Durham, although it will merge again with “the bypass”). Once you’re on the bypass, continue south to Chapel Hill past Interstate 40.

As you approach Chapel Hill, the road will split, with US 15-501 bearing to the left toward Carrboro and Pittsboro, and East Franklin Street bearing to the right. Take Franklin Street to downtown Chapel Hill (with access to the University of North Carolina campus).

From Atlanta

Take Interstate 85 north to Charlotte and Greensboro. In Greensboro, the highway becomes Interstate 40 and Interstate 85. After you pass Mebane, take Exit 259 for Interstate 40 to Chapel Hill. Get off at Exit 266 for Chapel Hill and turn right onto NC Highway 86, which will become Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and then Columbia St. Turn left onto Cameron to enter the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill campus.

From Asheville

Take Interstate 40 to Greensboro, then follow the same directions under From Atlanta above.

From Raleigh

Take Interstate 40 to Exit 273A, which will put you on NC Highway 54 westbound toward Chapel Hill. NC 54 will become Raleigh Road at the intersection of US Highway 15-501. Stay on Raleigh Road, which will become South Road at the entrance to the University of North Carolina campus.
