SCOSAA Gab Session, September 2008
One of the first SILS student group events of the new school year was SCOSAA's September Gab Session with three former SILS students: Noah Huffman, Jessica Sedgwick, and Biff Hollingsworth. All three worked at the Southern Historical Collection (SHC) and graduated from SILS just last May, 2008. Biff and Jessica are now employed at the SHC, and Noah at Dook. Yay for you guys! A lot of new faces in the crowd, with a good turn out of about 15 interested Gabbers.
SCOSAA Field Trip to Country Doctor Museum, October 2006
On Saturday, October 28, 2006, SCOSAA took a field trip to the Country Doctor Museum in Bailey. We spent an hour on the tour, then made a qucik stop at the gift shop.

SAA Annual Conference, August 2006, Washington, DC

Gab Session with Laura Clark Brown, April 2006
Wednesday, April 5, Laura Clark Brown joined SCOSAA at our weekly Gab Session. Laura discussed some of her experiences in public services at the Southern Historical Collection, and how she ended up in that position.
SAA Job Workshop, April 2006
On April 1, 2006, with the help of SNCA, SCOSAA organized a job workshop for archives students at UNC, NCSU, and NCCU. Professional archivists from UNC, Duke, and NC-ECHO shared their experiences and advice for finding a job in archives.
SNCA Spring Meeting, March 23-24, 2006, Century Center, Carrboro
SCOSAA sponsored a panel about hiring graduate students and recent graduates that is being held in the afternoon. The panelists were Tim Pyatt, Laura Smith, and Jackie Dean.
Gab Session with Kathy Wisser, March 2006
Wednesday, March 22, Kathy Wisser joined SCOSAA at our weekly Gab Session. Kathy discussed her work with NC-ECHO, as well as how she became interested in archives and metadata.
Gab Session with Steve Weiss, March 2006
Wednesday, March 8, Steve Weiss joined SCOSAA at our weekly Gab Session. Steve talked to us both about his background and experiences as a sound and image librarian, and about his plans for the Southern Folklife Collection in the future.
SCOSAA Field Trip to North Carolina State Archive, February 2006
On Saturday, February 18, 2006, SCOSAA took a field trip to the North Carolina State Archives in Raleigh. We spent an hour with Tom Vincent, a correspondance archivist, who gave us a great tour through all of the stacks!
