This Library of Congress site contains about two-dozen vintage animated shorts dating from 1900 to 1921 that can be viewed online. These films are noteworthy for their early experimentations with the animated format while attempting to deliver comedy entertainment. (Today's audiences may find the material cute but probably not terribly funny.)
