Demos

All demos require Java to be installed in your web browser.
RB07 demos require Windows with either Firefox 3 or IE 7 and Java 6 (these are labelled "PC only").
RB++ and other versions should work with Java on Macs, PCs, or Linux (these are labelled "all").

Featured Demos

RB07 Board Games Demo  (PC only)
This is a demo that includes data for over 2,000 board games and links from the site www.boardgamegeek. You can explore games based on their ranking, the number of players, and the playing time.

RB07 NSF Science and Engineering Indicators  (PC only)
This RB07 instance was created based on the data published in the 1993 to 2006 NSF Science and Engineering Indicators. You can use fulltext search on the dataset and click on the results to open a window to the data on the NSF SEI web site. This dataset has over 10,000 items.

RB++ NSF Science and Engineering Indicators (all)
This RB was created based on the data published in the 1993 to 2006 NSF Science and Engineering Indicators. You can click on the results to open a window to the data on the NSF SEI web site. This dataset has over 10,000 items.

Understanding the RB07 (PC only)
This is a simple demo that uses fruits, colors, sizes, and shapes to introduce how the Relation Browser works. The configuration files for this demo are available on the Details page.

RB++ U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (all)
This demo is the RB++ instance that was used in our study that compared the RB to the hand-crafted BLS website structure. It includes a crawl of the data on the BLS website from mid-2006. This dataset has over 67,000 items.
RB++ Open Video Collection (all)
Data about the videos in the Open Video collection of on-line videos at http://www.open-video.org as of the fall of 2004. The links in this demo are clickable and will load the page for the video on the Open Video web site. Created by Gary Marchionini.
RB++ U.S. Engery Information Administration (all)
This RB indexes documents published by the U.S. Engery Information Administration. The results are clickable, but some of the links no longer point to valid documents on the EIA web site.
RB++ U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (all)
This is our older RB instance for the BLS dataset that uses slightly different facets than the one listed above.

RB Demos from Class projects

The Relation Browser has been used in several course offerings at UNC SILS, often as an assignment to create an RB instance. These demos should work on all platforms (Mac, PC, Linux).
