          This book serves as an introduction to traditional Chinese medicine. It is a combine effort of the United States-China Educational Institute, the Peoples' Medicinal Publishing House and Columbia University Press. This book is designed to meet the needs of Western doctors who do not have knowledge of Chinese but wish to study TCM. It introduces the orientation of TCM, it principle concepts, it explains the etiology and pathogenesis from TCM's prospective, methods of examination and diagnosis. It is an excellent starting point when understanding TCM.

          The book explains profound concept in simple terms. The book covers basic theories and major therapeutic measures, i.e., herbal medication and acupuncture.
