Course Description

This seminar combines the contents of INLS 883: Research Colloquium and INLS 889: Seminar in Teaching Practice. The intent is to create a learning community for doctoral students who wish to improve their teaching practice and to learn good strategies for developing research expertise. Past doctoral students have labelled it "Doc Shop".

For the Research Colloquium part, we will present and discuss research issues, questions, methods, and anlytical approaches. For the Seminar in Teaching Practice we will present and discuss relevant literature and aspects of the teaching experience. Several visitors will be invited to share experiences. Seminar participants will be encouraged to evaluate their own strengths to determine individualized ways to enact the researcher/educator roles.
