Basically there are only two assignments but as one of them is in five parts, it might be more accurate to say there are six tasks. The first assignment is preliminary and involves a career exploration. It is an individual assignment. The second assignment is a term-long project with four sections to be handed in at intervals followed by a poster session at the end. You will probably get more out of the project assignment if you do it as a team of two or even three people. However the choice is up to you. For team assignments, each person will receive the same grade, unless there is overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
Details on each of the assignment choices are provided separately (see the links below). The table below summarizes the deliverables and dates each assignment is due.

An alternative to the project assignment may be proposed to allow you to tailor the class activities to your particular interests or needs.
A list of what folks in the class have selected for their project may be found at Class Projects. In addition to these written assignments, you will be expected to read beyond the required readings (suggested readings are provided for you but you are not limited to these), attend classes (please let me know if you have an unavoidable absence), and participate in class discussions. class participation will count 15% toward your final grade and be based on your preparedness and participation in class or on a class discussion board if we decide to have one.
Revised 2/3/2001.
If you have any questions or want to propose an alternative, send me a note at Evelyn Daniel.
