Communicate about problems

If an unexpected problem arises for you during the course of the semester (serious illness, etc.), please let us know so that we can discuss an appropriate plan.

Key Carolina organizations to know.

Accessibility

If you have a documented disability or medical condition, make sure to contact EOC's Accomodation Team at accommodations@unc.edu.

Reasonable Accomodations

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill provides reasonable accommodations for applicants and current students with disabilities that impact academics, on-campus living, dining, and cocurricular and extracurricular campus activities.

The Equal Opportunity and Compliance office (EOC) coordinates and implements appropriate reasonable accommodations and provides appropriate resources and services. EOC works with all students including undergraduate and graduate students, full-time and part-time students, and students participating in continuing education courses or who may be auditing and with program applicants.

If you feel this will apply to you, feel free to discuss it with the instructor.

CAPS

Counseling And Psychological Services (CAPS)

CAPS Mission

CAPS staff is strongly committed to addressing the mental health needs of a diverse student body through timely access to consultation and connection to clinically appropriate services.

CAPS affirms that people of every background are to be treated with respect and dignity. The professional ethics and standards of the multidisciplinary staff at CAPS set a framework for understanding how facets of identity (e.g., gender, ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, age, physical and mental abilities, religious beliefs and socioeconomic background) impact life experience.

CAPS is committed to our training programs in social work and psychology and to our staff's ongoing professional development including enhancing clinical skills and multicultural competence. We have an approach to mental health that integrates physical, emotional, academic, spiritual, social, and cultural well-being.

Go to the CAPS website or visit their facilities on the third floor of the Campus Health Services building for a walk-in evaluation to learn more.
