Wake County Public School System
Wake Education Partnership – “Uniting community resources for excellence in public education.” A Public school advocacy organization, raises funds for public education and
provides resources. Contains an extensive list of parent resources.
Traditional – Schools in the Wake County Public School System following the traditional instructional calendar and adhering to the NC curriculum.
Year-Round – Four 9-week terms are separated by 3-week vacations.
Modified / Alternate Schedule – The school year begins earlier and ends later, and more vacation time is incorporated during the school year.
Magnet
– Selective schools in the Wake County Public School System. Incorporate
special themes along with the NC curriculum. There is an application process
for admission.
Charter – Autonomous, alternative public
schools. Receive government funding, but must supplement with private funding.
Free from many of the regulations of traditional and magnet public schools.
