Reviews

Reviews of Eno's recorded work are readily available at the sites listed below, which can be very handy if you don't know which way to turn first in starting to listen to his music. He has a huge catalogue of work, matched only by it electicism, so the resources listed here can save you time and in some cases considerable expense.

All Music Guide

Along with the Trouser Press Guide, you should be able to find most of what you want in the way of record reviews here. Kept very current – new releases by Eno are likely to be added within months, if not weeks, of release.

The Trouser Press Record Guide (online)
http://www.trouserpress.com/index.php
One of the great alternative music record review guides around, the Trouser Press grew out of a journal by the same name. Having put out several editions of a highly respected print guide, the Trouser Press finally went online in August 2002. The online guide, interestingly, follows the book editions, with a “90s and Beyond” section for up-to-date entries, so several clicks will get you what you’re after. Even if it is a little inconvenient as far as website goes (this is basically the guide slapped online without a lot of web-friendly design features built in), this is a very authoritative guide to consult for album reviews, and a good backup to the All Music Guide.

Sullivan, Mark H. Rev. of More Dark Than Shark, by Brian Eno and Russell Mills. Library Journal 111 issue 11 1986: 69.

Positive review of Eno’s and Mill’s book, which illustrates Eno’s lyrics.

Berry, Colin. Rev. of A Year with Swollen Appendices, by Brian Eno. Wired.com 12 December 1996.

Positive review of Eno’s 1995 diary. Since you can’t get it at UNC, you can at least read the review and then decide whether or not to order it via interlibrary loan.
