In general you may have no choice, the decision might have already been made by others setting standards for your organization and you have to live with it!
In some respects it doesn’t matter a lot because for file and print services they are pretty similar.
But for Internet services I personally believe that NT is where it is at, Netware is not even close.
In terms of market share, Novell used to dominate and Microsoft wasn’t close, the trend has changed recently
