Ad Council. As a private non-profit institution, the Ad Council creates public service campaigns on issues like education, public health, community well-being, environmental preservation and strengthening families.
Advertising World. A set of links to topics related to adverttising and marketing. Many links are of directory type but others link to useful content. See, for example, the link to Public Relations.
American Marketing Association. The major professional association for marketers. See "Topics" and "Best Practices" for links to related articles. The AMA publishes eight major journals (see AMA Publications for links to each of them): Marketing News (online version available by subscription), Marketing Management, Marketing Research, Marketing Health Services, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of International Marketing, Journal of Public Policy and Marketing Online.
BtoB; Advertising Age's Newspaper of the Marketing Revolution. Possibly overly business oriented for LIS folks but does provide price information for web activities, examples of what works, news on e-commerce, etc.

CreatAbiliToys - Museum of Advertising Icons. A collection of over 650 advertising icons. The website is fun to play with.
Library Media and PR. Produced by ALA. "Strategies, techniques, resources, tips & tools for library communicators." Some great images yours for the taking.
Mental Engineering (Public TV show). Information about a series that about television commercials and our commercial culture. .
Nielsen Media Ratings. Site tells how ratings are established. Lists available reports and prices (at least one was free last time I looked but most cost between $15 and $50.)
"You Are Where you Live" - PRIZM Lifestyle Segmentation System. Take the survey and look about the demographic clusters of your neighbors. Produced by Claritas -- a commercial company.
Survey Research Resources. Formerly from Princeton University, a comprehensive web site of links to "everything useful on the web useful for the practice of survey research." Includes Poll and Survey Findings, Market Research, Other Survey research centers. Now maintained by an individual, Herb Abelson.
University of Illinois Advertising collections. Three of the many great advertising collections at the University of Illinois are highlighted here on a website organized and designed by librarians.
VALS (Values and Lifestyles) categorizes adult consumers into mutually exclusive groups based on their psychology and several key demographics. You can take the survey to see if you are an actualizer, fulfilled, achiever, experiencer ... or a struggler.
Web Marketing & E-Commerce. Requires subscription but no fee attached. Billed as "the largest collection of materials on e-commerce (selling products directly over the Internet)." Electronic newsletter: Web Marketing Today.. See Web Marketing Information Center, a guide to over 500 online articles about online marketing. ... and all of it seems to stem from one man, Mr. Wilson (Wilson Internet).
