ASSIGNMENTS |
DESCRIPTION | SYLLABUS | SCHEDULE | RESOURCES | |
Details on each of the assignments are provided separately. Please note that assignments
2 and 3 are an "either-or" pair and that the 10% allocated to the Readings
assignment is only half the Class Participation grade (20% altogether);
the other 10% is for participation in the class and on the discussion
forums (being a good member of the learning community).
The table below summarizes the deliverables and dates each
assignment is due. Note about Due Dates. Because this summer class is highly
compressed and there is a hiatus in the middle when our only contact will
be online, I am happy to accept a first draft for each (or any) of the
written assignments on the date
due with your more polished final product submitted by
June 20 (last class day is June 17).
Alternative(s) Possible.
An alternative to any of the assignments may be proposed to allow each
person to tailor the class activities to his/her particular interests or
needs. If you want to propose an alternative, send me a note or see
me during or after class on the first day. Class Participation. In addition to the formal assignments, you
are expected and I'm sure
will enjoy, participating in class. The participation grade is
divided between your postings on the Blackboard course site,
especially during the period between May 24 and June 13, and your
presence and contributions during our class sessions.
Revised May 17, 2005.

Each of the assignments has a presentation component and a
collaboration component. The first assignment is individual in the
first part and then collaborative in the second. The next three
assignments (of which you will select two) may be completed as a two or
three person team, or you may choose to do them individually.
If you choose to work as a team, the grade will be
the same for all members of the team unless there is overwhelming
evidence why it should be different.
