·         Alabama- 48 academic hours plus 24 dissertation research hours are required

·         Hawaii- 3 required courses for 13 hrs; then 1 credit seminar per semester required until dissertation research is complete

·         Illinois- The doctoral program (20 units) is 80 semester hours with a previous master’s degree and at least 112 semester hours without a previous master’s (28 units)

·         Long Island- Requires 48 hours and a minimum of 12 dissertation credits

·         McGill- Doctoral program is individualized for candidates (Ad Hoc Program)

·         Missouri – Doctoral program in Information Science and Learning Technology – 72-100 credit hours

·         NC Chapel Hill- Requires 36 hours and 6 additional dissertation credits

·         Texas- Requires additional hours for proposal preparation and for dissertation

·         Texas Women’s- 36 hours are required beyond Master’s; 72 hrs beyond Bachelor’s

·         Washington- 63 credits required plus 27 credits for dissertation

·         Western Ontario – 6-8 courses plus proposal and thesis

·         Wisconsin-Milwaukee- Offers a multidisciplinary Ph.D. program (credits vary)

·         Toronto – Individualized program.  Must complete a major subject, a minor subject and a research seminar
