A concept paper for a national Health Library and Information Network for Canada submitted by Joanne Marshall to Health Canada in Dec. 1995 called for:
  • a feasibility study
  • building on existing resources through improved co-ordination, technological infrastructure, training, and resource sharing
  • Health Canada to provide leadership and to partner with other organizations
  • Principal areas of activity:
  • equitable access to print and electronic sources
  • collaboration with CISTI, academic institutions, and health care organizations
  • broad access to electronic databases and information services
  • attention to and application of new technologies
  • critical appraisal and dissemination of health care knowledge
