HCI Seminar 357
Day 10 Notes
One minute summaries
Main Point
Security plays a
large role in interfaces
shift in HCI research towards more directly
coupling human physiology with computer interfaces and away from indirect
manipulation (keyboard, mouse, etc.).
the human
mind can be used to control mechanical devices outside the body.
incorporate biomatrix data
for usability studies
The
"interface" is a multilayered construct rather than a single
entity/problem.
Combining biometrics and UIs
Eye-tracking alone is not enough, need it as one source of data
Question
How wired can
we become? In 10 years, will be all have
implants with
our
medical information?
What can
actually be done to prevent "information leakage" from a person
online without requiring that a computer understand what user actions are
intentional and what actions are unintentional?
What about
devices inside the body?
how do
you measure the total information one carries? Is it measurable (e.g.,
leakage)? Is this
information
varied in a population?
have
biometric studies contributed any key insights to our
understanding of human info behavior/HCI beyond what we can determine using
more traditional techniques?
Is this the best
time for biometrics?
Difference between eye gaze
on object nd thinking about the object
Privacy?
Do people’s eye patterns
develop over time for on screen viewing?
How often does the dazzle of
biometric data mask data massaging?

was the big point you learned in class today?
What
is the main, unanswered question you leave class with today?
