Develop an outline for an empirical investigation that uses physiological
data of your choice (e.g., gaze, heart rate, galvanic skin response, body/part
tracking, etc.) to answer one or more human interaction questions of your
choice. You are NOT required to execute the study but consider the practical
aspects of such an investigation (e.g., costs, human subject participation).
The outline should have two sections (purpose and method). The purpose
section should be brief—a paragraph. The method section should briefly
(e.g., a paragraph) address each of the questions below. The main
objectives of this assignment are to:
a) help you think through some of the issues related to empirical studies
that involve human subjects and some type of physiological data collected
from those subjects; and
b) generate a set of questions and data streams to motivate class discussion
on November 22.
Purpose of study (What is the main goal the study aims to achieve? What are the research questions this study will answer?)
Method (How will you answer the question(s)? Who are the
subjects? What are the instruments/tasks? What are the procedures?
How will data be analyzed?)
