Interaction Exercise

INLS 180

Do the three following tasks and write a short (1 paragraph) statement for each about how you interacted with information while executing the task.  For example, you may wish to report the number of turns taken by you and the system (define what you mean by a turn, e.g., a turn on your part is you entering a value or clicking on a link, a turn on the system’s part is a response or prompt or mode change/initiation of a new action); you may wish to estimate how much time your turns took versus how long the system’s turns took; or you may want to define some other ways to describe the level of interaction for each of these experiences.

  1. Go to the Carolina Inn website to see what rooms look like.
  2. Go to Lands End website and order a customized shirt or blouse (do not complete the purchase)
  3. Choose one of the following:
    1. Go to Wikipedia and edit the article ‘Library’ to add the statement that the Davis Library on the UNC campus is a great library
    2. Go to http://www.shockwave.com/  or http://games.msn.com and play any game of your choice (can be single or multiple player).  Note that a media player is required for most games and some want you to pay, so simply back out before paying or subscribing.  New windows are sometimes launched that offer prizes (gimmicks) or other services, so be careful!  If you go to MSN, you will need to use IE to play the free online games.
