Information use is dependent on human characteristics

Info as process, knowledge, and thing

Cannot write instructions for “knowledge”

Experts often have trouble explaining what they know to novices

 

Questions

How can intelligence be measured?

Don’t we have to put some burden on user to work to understand?

What is the history behind info science?  Is it moving toward CS?

Even with excellent instructions, won’t some people fail to get it or ask for more help?

If people have trouble expressing needs (gaps, ASKs) are there same problems understanding needs

Mentoring comes closest to teaching knowledge.

What happened to the computer with all the knowledge (CYC??)
