The importance of context in relevance (time, criticality, geography, etc)

Many different ways to think about the value of information

The journey is as important as the destination (search itself is valuable)

Questions

What are the ethics of making assumptions about the value of info as an info provider/specialist? (when to stop answering the question?)  What are the levels of responsibility for helping seeker value the info (e.g., medical cases)?

Did not discuss effect of controlling info on its value (see Pool reading later in semester)

Univerally valuable information (is there some?)

Is info less valuable because so much is available on web?

Does any info have universal value?

Why do I think we have any basic info rights?

2. Discuss video structure assignment

(Discuss web structure assignment  on Thur)

2. Information Use

            How do you use information?

(the goals—e.g., decision making) vs the process—e.g., remember, copy, write, etc.)

What was the big point you learned in class today?

What is the main, unanswered question you leave class with today?
