Journals and Magazines

The following journals and magazines follow the scholarship, practice, and appreciation of traditional Southern music styles. Most are available in the Music Library, where they are shelved alphabetically by title. Those held in Davis Library can be found in the Serials Department (if recent) or by call number (if more than a year old); those in the North Carolina Collection (NCC) are shelved by call number. Where noted, some journals may be accessed online by members of the UNC community who are on the campus network or on a computer configured for off-campus access though the library proxy server.

In addition, the Southern Folklife Collection maintains an extensive collection of music magazines, fanzines/fan club publications, and other rare, historical materials; these materials are not in the library catalog, but may be searched using a print index in the Manuscripts Department or by requesting help from the Manuscripts Reference staff.
