Remember that email is useful for more that 1 to1 communication.
There are thousands of automated “listservers” or email discussion groups on just about every topic you can imagine.
When using mailing lists, be careful to watch who you are sending to! Commands typically go to one address, messages to another. Also be careful when replying!
