POP - Post Office Protocol
Essentially store and forward. Mail is stored on a server until your connect, then it is copied to you.
Simple protocol that is widely used. Many clients are available and widespread ISP support.
- Example clients include: Eudora, Netscape in POP mode, Outlook Express, Email Connection, etc.
Generally VERY bad for mobile users that use multiple machines during the day.
- Especially bad for students! Why?
