Internet Applications
The Internet includes many “applications” or “services”:
- Telnet , Email, News, FTP, World-Wide-Web
Associated with each application is a “client”
- The software the user interacts with
A “server”
- The software the client talks to behind the scenes to make everything work
A “protocol”
- The agreed upon language or commands the client and server use to communicate with each other. Defined by Internet RFC’s and run “on top” of TCP/IP.
