The page references are all to the 1996 edition.

June

_________________________________________________________

1. Institution names vary in form throughout the report. Different
forms of names impact the order in which institutions are listed in tables. Some
specific examples are:

     p. 2 SUNY-Albany
     p. 255 Albany

     p. 2 California-Los Angeles
     p. 8 California-L.A.
     p. 67 Cal. L.A.
     p. 256 UCLA

     p. 2 University of North Texas
     p. 8 North Texas
     p. 68 N. Texas

     p. 2 Emporia State
     p. 255 Emporia

     p. 2 Kent State
     p. 113 Kent

     p. 2 North Carolina
     p. 68 NC Chp Hill
     p. 275 NC Chapel Hill

2. The style of academic years is not consistent. In some
chapters 1994-95 (p. 67) is used and in others 1994/1995 (p. 287) is used.

3. Percentages in some chapters are taken to two decimal places (p.
90), and only one in others (p. 35).

4. Gender terminology needs to be standardized. For instance, on
page 7 male-female is used whereas on page 95, men-women is used.

5. In some of the tables there are what seem to be obvious errors
that never seem to get corrected from edition to edition. The clearest examples are in
Table III-16, pp. 236-38, in which Arizona, Clarion, Long Island, St. John's,
for example, have the same number of hours in required courses that are
required for the whole degree--which is not the case.

------------------------[ SMTP header ]----------------------
| Return-Path: <jlester@slis.lib.ou.edu>
| Received: from ruby.ils.unc.edu (152.2.81.1) by mhs.unc.edu (Connect2-SMTP 4.10.0000021)
| for <saye.ils@mhs.unc.edu>; Wed, 2 Oct 1996 15:16:53 -0400
| Received: from pop1.backbone.ou.edu by ruby.ils.unc.edu (AIX 3.2/UCB 5.64/4.03)
| id AA51069; Wed, 2 Oct 1996 15:15:54 -0400
| Received: from LKJOHNSON.ou.edu ([129.15.71.171]) by pop1.backbone.ou.edu (8.7.6/8.7.3) with SMTP id OAA24161; Wed, 2 Oct 1996 14:13:38 -0500 (CDT)
| Message-Id: <199610021913.OAA24161@pop1.backbone.ou.edu>
| Comments: Authenticated sender is <jlester@slis.lib.ou.edu>
| From: "June Lester" <jlester@slis.lib.ou.edu>
| Organization: slis
| To: daniel@ruby.ils.unc.edu, saye@ruby.ils.unc.edu
| Date: Wed, 2 Oct 1996 14:19:40 +0000
| Subject: ALISE Stat.
