LIS 450RRL: GRANTWRITING AND FUNDRAISING

TIME AND TASK CHART

Below is an example of a time and task chart. There are many other possible formats to choose from. Essentially, a time and task chart breaks down your project into manageable steps. This allows the reviewers of the project to see in outline form exactly what you plan to do and when. It shows good organization.

Not only is a time and task chart a good organizing and planning tool, it is highly useful for project management. Microsoft, among others, has a good software package, called Project, which provides more sophisticated methods for creating time and task charts, assigning responsibilities, costing the project and examining for overruns. If you are involved in a large project involving different organizations or a lot of different people or if your project is a multi-year project, you might wish to consider purchasing some form of project management software.

However, even a simple time/task chart like the one below gives a quick overview, shows the major tasks and expectations of when they will be accomplished, and has value accordingly.
