Criteria for Evaluating Assignment #2: Planning a Library

(Weight = 20% of Grade)

Spring 1999

Six statements are provided below reflecting the criteria that I used to evaluate and grade this first assignment.For each statement, I have given you a number on a five point scale, where:

1 = Outstanding (beyond my expectations)

2 = Very Good (superior work)

3 = Good (perfectly satisfactory – equivalent to P)

4 = Acceptable but Needs Improvement (will be accompanied by some

suggestions for ways to make the next assignment better)

5 = Unsatisfactory (will be returned with request to redo).

Criteria

 

All aspects of the assignment are addressed: planning, staffing, space and equipment, set-up budget, and annual budget. Presentation of report is attractive in appearance.

 

The analysis of organization and its industry is thoughtful, shows evidence of thorough background research. The library's mission/function reflects the mission and vision of the overall organization.

 

The report is concise and precise. Background information is synthesized and infused in all the recommendations. Ideas are clear and writing quality is high and at an appropriate level.

 

Report shows an ability to reach well-reasoned conclusions and make realistic and persuasive recommendations in light of background information provided.

 

The report has depth and coherence. It provides evidence of a holistic approach and a well-thought-out concept for the proposed library/information service.

 

The in-class group presentation made good use of time available. A clear picture of the company and the proposed library service was provided. Manner of presentation and presenters was professional.
