Getting Ready for Class of Mar. 26, 2000
THE GLOBAL INFORMATION SOCIETY - II
We will continue a discussion of the three topics we introduced last week -- Globalization, Information technology and the Information society, and the "New Economy." Please refer to last week's getting ready for some reading selections that are available for you in the 204 pam box or directly online through the UNC library. (I went under e-indexes and databases and found NCLive-Ebsco and then searched under the Academic Search File using globalization and some of the other related terms) If you have trouble finding an article you want let me know and I'll be happy to help you if I can.On the 26th as well, I would like to start planning dates for presentations of the second major topic -- your examination of a particular country or region. Presently these are folks' adopted countries organized by region. I've also included the "silent partner/editor" that we agreed to last week. (This "partnership" is in lieu of the critique of a colleague's issue paper originally listed on the Assignment sheet. Please note I also revised the number of reading reports downward -- now it's the best (or only) four of five reading reports).

However, we can think about presentations on the chosen country/region grouped in these ways beginning with our 12th session on April 16 and continuing on the 13th session (April 23) and the last session on April 30.
After this week we have two special treats coming up -- more about these on the next "Getting Ready's."
So, in preparation for this coming Wednesday, do as Dr. Carr says, "Read, Read, and then Read some more!"
