CAREER PLANNING SPEAKER SERIES

PREPARING FOR FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT DISCUSSION AND EXERCISE (continued)

Today we have two more fine speakers representing information organizations in the private sector.

One of our speakers is Tamara Anderson, Managing Director, Keane Consultants, a management consulting firm and the second is Alberta McKay, Group Manager, US Information Management, Glaxo Wellcome. Both of our speakers will provide some background on their companies and their responsibilities within it, talk a bit with your about career planning for their respective venues and provide a tip or two about management issues. I'm looking forward eagerly to their remarks, as I am sure you are as well.

I am also assigning a second article specifically on budgeting to prepare us for next week as we wrestle with the management of the financial aspects of a job. This second reading is also a chapter from a book. The book title suggests that it is directed more toward librarians than information science people but I think you will find this particular chapter on budgeting is relevant for all and a good followup to Monday's assigned reading.
