INLS 572 Web Development
Description

An introduction to front-end web development using the latest standards and features for HTML and CSS, as well as JavaScript. Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS is recommended.

Students will develop a small website of their choosing using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (no frameworks), and should bring their laptops so that they can work through examples and exercises in class. Topics include

  • HTML and CSS Basics
  • CSS for presentation (backgrounds, borders, filters)
  • CSS for layout (Grid and Flexbox)
  • JavaScript (Intro, HTML Video/Audio, APIs, libraries)
  • Animation
  • Accessibility
Objectives
  • Learn the basic technologies required for website development: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Understand current web standards and how to apply best practices for web development
  • Understand the guidelines that enable an effective web experience for all users and platforms
