Notes on Courses or Sections of Courses with the Number of Students Enrolled Above 50

California Los Angeles Core classes 3 hour lecture, 1 hour discussion Section A=19, B=19, C=10, D=10 58 TOTAL
Florida State These are courses which are web-based, with students at a variety of locations. The number of "sections" is not meaningful in this context as the term is used to indicate route of enrollment, not the more typical use.
Illinois Core course that meets in one large lecture plus 5 small discussion sections each wee. Internet-based offering basic reference course.
Indiana Represents lecture section of L401 prerequisite course. Lecture section meets 3X per semester. The 88-maximum lecture is divided into 4 22-maximum lab sections which meet weekly.
Michigan These are required foundation courses, which included individual discussion sections.
North Texas SILS 50000 has 145 students enrolled and is a web-based course.
Pittsburgh Courses with more than 50 students are either entry-level undergraduate level courses or courses that are required graduate courses.
Rutgers Two classes have more than 50 students. 601:501 is the introductory class which meets with new students once and includes our orientation to the program and University. 610:5510 is more heavily subscribed than usual this semester. We feel this is due to recommending that all students take it in their first semester of study.
South Carolina Classes are televised. J705 is offered in SC and WV. J701 and J706 are part of the required core. J741 and J757 are required for SC certification in School Library Media.
Southern Miss. Total enrollment includes students enrolled at IVN sites.
Syracuse Courses with more than 50 students are all undergraduate courses, with most teaching assistantships, except on introductory IRM course.
Tennessee The course greater than 50 is being offered via distance education this semester.
Texas Undergraduate courses: LIS 322T Children’s Literature and LIS 231 Information
Washington Required core courses.
Western Ontario Two required courses are offered in one section rather than two; one has an enrollment of 57 while the other has 49.
Wisconsin – Madison The first courses for entering students taught Fall only as a large lecture course.
