Alberta — Considering making changes in core courses and adding a new class and seminar.
British Columbia — Considering adding a diploma in Archival Studies.
Buffalo — Considering adding a masters program in Information and Communication.
Alabama —- Considering adding an undergraduate minor in Information Studies.
Arizona — Plans on adding additional courses to the core requirements.
California — Los Angeles -- Plans on changing the electives and possibly adding a certificate.
Clark Atlanta — Faculty have approved a concentration in health sciences librarianship, and it is now being sent forward to the University Curriculum Committee for approval. Concentrations in Art/Museum and Business Librarianship are being considered.
Dalhousie — Considering adding a joint program with the School of Business Administration and with the School of Public Administration.
Emporia — Considering implementing a certificate of Information Management, a possible addition of a Legal Research Certificate, and possible course name and content changes.
Illinois — Considering arranging MS courses into broad areas to help students select those courses appropriate to their area of specialization.
Indiana — Planning on making changes in the core/required courses.
Iowa — Considering adding an MS in Information Science.
Kent State — Planning to continue the investigation into the research paper requirement, is considering participation in an interdisciplinary degree in MS and Information Management, and Knowledge Structure. They are also planning on continuing to develop distance learning instruction and infrastructures.
Maryland — Considering adding a post masters program, adding another masters program, and undergraduate courses.
McGill — Considering adding a graduate certificate.
Missouri — Plans of adding a new core course for the MA degree.
Montreal — Considering adding a joint masters program in Biomedical Engineering, and adding an undergraduate certificate program in Electronic Information Management.
North Carolina Central — Considering adding a joint program with the masters of Business Administration.
North Carolina - Greensboro — Considering adding a joint masters program.
Oklahoma — Thinking of adding an alternative to the comprehensive examination as the end of program assessment.
Pittsburgh — Plans changes for the core management courses and has appointed a task force to run a feasibility study for a MAS (Master of Archival Science).
Puerto Rico — Planning on making changes in the core program increasing it from 24 to 31 credit hours. They are also planning to add 3 post-master degree programs, and two post bachelor certificates.
Queens — Planning on altering the core program, with content changes and possible additional courses. They are also considering adding a doctoral program.
Rhode Island — Plans on reviewing and revising the current core program and developing a new IMS degree.
Rutgers — Plans an ongoing review of the core courses.
St. Johns — Plans on making changes in the core courses by establishing a sequence for courses, and establishing computer competency for entering students.
Simmons — Planning on changes in the required courses.
Southern Connecticut — Plans for a joint masters with Women’s Studies.
Southern Mississippi — Plans on evaluating the number of required courses and their content. They also plan on adding a specialization in archival studies, and undergraduate information literacy courses.
Syracuse — Planning on revising the TNM curriculum.
Tennessee — Plans for a review of the required courses.
Texas — Plans on restructuring the entire masters program.
Texas Women’s — Planning on adding masters programs in Children’s Literature and Storytelling.
Washington — Plans on adding a new core in 2000, and adding a Master of Science in Information Management.
Wayne State — Plans on adding a doctoral program, a joint masters with the College of Urban, Labor, and Metropolitan Affairs, and a revisions of elective courses to complete the entire curriculum evaluation a redesign of the MLIS.
Wisconsin-Madison — Plans on the redefinition of core areas, and development of revised areas. They also plan for a joint major with Art History and Music, and working on an undergraduate certificate.
Wisconsin-Milwaukee — Planning on adding a joint master’s program with Anthropology.
