The past and future:
My recent work on natural language has focused on relationships between terms,
analytic models of information retrieval performance given linguistic information about text,
and
scientific laws governing term occurrences.
I also examine the evolutionary development of language and grammars.
Present work continues in these areas.
Students who have completed a semester or two of master's level work
and have
taken the related introductory courses in this area
might want to consider taking an
independent readings course
if they believe that this area represents their career focus.
