Most (if not all) of my work falls to some extent in the area of artificial intelligence, machine learning, adaptive systems, personalization, relevance feedback, and decision making. Most of my systems are adaptive and I tend to use formal machine learning and decision making techniques in my work.

Students who have completed a semester or two of master's level work and have taken the related introductory courses in this area might want to consider taking an independent readings course if this area is very interesting to them.
