Library Operations
Robert Losee

I am interested in supporting research in library operations within UNC-CH SILS. If you have a strong interest in library operations, and are willing to try to develop the mathematical skills that you don't already have that one needs to analyze library operations, I hope you will consider independent studies and research in this area. Here is the course material for the Library Operations course Spring 2005.

Successful students in the area of Library Operations are self-motivated and are interested in studying libraries as a series of functions. Library Operations needs people who see libraries as a set of systems and processes, often flawed and suboptimal, and who first and foremost want to improve these processes.

Students who have completed a semester or two of master's level work and have taken the related introductory courses in this area might want to consider taking an independent readings course if they believe that this area represents their career focus.
