MEDINA

The city of Medina is the second most important place of worship for a muslim because the Prophet's Mosque is located there. The Prophet Muhammad originally built it in 629 AD and was only 2,475 square meters. After the Prophet was buried there, many improvements and extentions were made throughout the years. The mosque today is one hundred times the size it was when the Prophet first established it. (Source)
The mosque can now accommodate half a million people at one time. The city of Madinah itself has changed because of the huge amounts of people that visit it every week. One underground parking deck close to the mosque holds 5,000 cars! The other mosque (pictured below) is called the Quba Mosque and has been restored under the proclamation of King Fahd. Medina is also very famous for its camel races which are similiar to horse races in that they can be both long and short-distance racing (pictured below.)
