Spellbound Blog: The CODATA Mission: Preserving Scientific Data for the Future. A session at the The Memory of the World in the Digital Age: Digitization and Preservation conference and aimed to describe the initiatives of the Data at Risk Task Group (DARTG), part of the Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA), a body of the International Council for Science.
DARTG teams up with reBiND, a 3-year project funded by the German research Foundation, which develops efficient workflows for rescuing legacy databases from biodiversity sciences. The reBiND philosophy is explained in a little stop-motion animation on YouTube.
A short animation by graduate student Nico Carver that was inspired by the work of DARTG. The video won a 2011 Sparky Award for best animation.
Members of DARTG met with the Data at Risk Initiative (DARI) Student Learning Circle at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, Fall 2011.
