Inside and outside metro stations in Moscow and St. Petersburg commuters are barraged with opportunities to peruse the latest magazines, newspapers and popular novels. During three weeks of Moscow commuting, I saw someone buy a magazine exactly once. I saw four people carrying magazines. Most of these were about personal computing. Vogue and Cosmo look beautiful in Russian, but who buys them and when?
