Statue of Liberty Collectors' Club

 

It is so reassuring to know I'm not alone in this Liberty collecting madness! What a good time it is to get together with like-minded collectors--they're all instant friends. It is so much fun for a group of us to walk into a bar and spot a tall green tacky plastic Liberty mug and all scream with delight, hoping there are enough to go around for everyone! We swap and share duplicates at our gatherings (every other year in NYC, plus occasional regional meetings), and enjoy updates on Liberty sightings, collectibles, and updates on each other, in the club's quartely newsletter.

 

 

  

Here we are, December 1998, in front of the New York! New York! Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The club was founded in 1991 by Iris November, kneeling in the front. There are close to 300 members. The NYC gathering attracts a lot more members. I am blessed with so many Liberty collector friends, and have enjoyed visiting some of their shrines.
