Ecological information
A wide variety of plants and animals can be found throughout Falls Lake. Colorful wildflowers including tick-seed sunflowers, butterfly weeds and asters can be found nestled next to a number of oak species and loblolly pines. White-tailed deer, rabbit, quail, red fox and raccoon are some of the most common forms of wildlife. Bluebirds, goldfinches and wrens sing in the trees, as wood ducks and mallards gently paddle in the nearby water. Soaring in the sky overhead are birds of prey including the red-tailed hawk, osprey and bald eagle. The calls of the great-horned, barred and screech owls fill the night air.
