A Natural Place To Meet

The Summit Environmental Education Center is a retreat and learning center operated in conjunction with the North Carolina Division of Parks and Recreation. Its secluded, 210-acre campus is located within Haw River State Park, one of the division's newest state parks currently under development.

Beyond its role as a training center for the state parks system and other agencies, The Summit provides a serene and natural setting for successful employee training programs, family reunions, youth retreats, teambuilding conferences, spiritual retreats, marriage retreats, holiday parties and club events. Its client list includes businesses, government agencies, conservation organizations, college and university groups, mental health organizations, hobby groups and churches, just to name a few.

Located just 15 minutes north of Greensboro, NC at Browns Summit and 25 minutes from Piedmont Triad International Airport, The Summit offers accommodations for up to 180 overnight guests and 300 day-use visitors. The conference center includes eight comfortable meeting spaces, motel and dormitory-style sleeping facilities, indoor and outdoor common areas, recreation facilities including a six-acre lake, trails and a buffet-style dining room.

The Haw River Program

The Summit is a true outdoor environmental learning center, offering optional programming through the Haw River Program (HARP).

HARP's education staff can provide a variety of courses and innovative activities for youth and adult groups of all sizes. These wide-ranging courses, as well as nature walks and team-building sessions, build on a respect for nature and are an excellent addition to any conference.

HARP makes use of multiple indoor classrooms for lab exercises and presentations as well as two outdoor amphitheaters, hiking trails, a six-acre lake and an expansive boardwalk that meanders through pristine wetlands. All of this support's HARP's commitment to immersing students in an engaging, informative, entertaining and inspiring curriculum.
