Thomasville Library Campaign
October 1987, the
commissioners agreed to committing $300,000 to a new Thomasville
Library. The following month the Thomas Austin Finch Foundation pledged
$300,000 to the project. In March 22, 1988, the City Council voted to donate
two acres between Randolph and Mock streets for the project.
In May the state granted the future library $125,000. By 1989 the fund-raising campaign
exceeded its $600,000 goal as the Thomasville community raised $1 million
of the funds for the $1.5 million needed.
