The School of Information and Library Science (SILS) Metadata Research Center <MRC> has been established to advance research in the area of metadata, semantics, and ontologies.

Metadata is crucial component in this evolving digital environment, supporting resource discovery, digital preservation, provenance tracking, authenticity verification, and life-cycle management.

Our growing digital environment invites a host of questions requiring rigorous investigation about metadata generation techniques, applications, the Semantic Web (web3.0), standards, and more. MRC has been established to lead and facilitate research efforts addressing significant questions in these areas and to offer solutions to today’s challenges.
