Museums
- NC Museum of Life & Science in Durham is one of the best and coolest museums for kids (and adults) bar none. There are all kinds of hands on activities throught, a petting zoo, hiking trails, a real train you can ride, air and space exibits, science, bugs, reptiles, stuff to bang on, a killer playground, lunar module, butterfly house, bears, wolves, you name it, they got it. Parks
- Chapel Hill Community Center has one of the best playgrounds, not only because of the huge castle and jungle gym, lots of swings and a big hill to be king of, but because there are always lots of kids there to play with. On Estes across the street from the main post office. chapelhillparks.org

- Elmo's in Carrboro has the friendliest staff, great kids menu and awesome adult food including many vegetarian options.
