The professional field experience program is designed to provide the student with the opportunity to work in a day-to-day professional environment under the supervision of an experienced librarian or information specialist and with the guidance of a School of Information and Library Science (SILS) faculty member. The program is designed also to promote positive interaction between practicing librarians and information professionals in institutions, businesses and libraries on the one hand, and the faculty and students of the school on the other hand.
