Aix-en-Provence |
Founded by the Romans in 122 B.C., today Aix-en-Provence is known for its beautiful main street, the Cours Mirabeau, and its connections with the famous painter, Paul Cezanne. The town has many historic fountains which we visited on a guided tour. After eating dinner at a cafe frequented by Cezanne himself, we headed back to our hotel. Without our realization the sidewalk ended, and we followed the people ahead of us into a gated apartment complex. I had a moment of panic that we would be trapped there, but my mother was more interested in studying the apartments! |
