IST 614: MANAGEMENT OF LIBRARIES AND INFORMATION CENTERS

ASSIGNMENTS

Proposal assignment. All the following assignments are pieces of one large proposal that we will be creating piecemeal in draft form so as to receive many comments before the complete proposal is presented to the class.

Note the creation of this proposal is a joint effort. It is suggested that lead responsibility rotate through the group so that all members of the group have work group leadership responsibility as well as acting as a contributing member at other times. Each individual member of the group is responsible for the work of the group as a whole.

There are six group assignments. See the box below for details and dates that sections are due.

Organizational Context PaperJan. 24
Proposal IdeaFeb. 7
Objectives and Action PlanFeb. 14
Staffing, Space and Equipment Plan Feb. 28
Budget Plan Mar. 14
Evaluation and Dissemination Plan Mar. 18

Poster Session. At the end of the course, we will again meet on campus for two days. At this time, your group is to combine all the parts of the grant proposal you have worked on and to create a poster for display to other members of the class portraying some of the key features of your proposal. In the poster session, you and your group will be asked to critique the work of two or three other groups. The critique and review work will help sharpen your eye for problems with your own work as well as possibly give you new ideas.

Final Exam. A final exam covering readings from the textbook and assigned reserve readings plus audio lecture material will be administered on the last day of the course.
