OAI – Open Archives Initiative

The Open Archives Initiative develops and promotes interoperability standards that aim to facilitate the efficient dissemination of content. OAI is committed to enhance access to e-print archives as a means of increasing the availability of scholarly communication.OAI offers two listservs: the OAI general list is a forum for discussing OAI issues of a non-technical nature. The Scholarly Communication Working Group

The Working Group on Scholarly Communication is a multidisciplinary group with a concern for all dimensions of contemporary scholarly communication including the economics of publishing, the evolution of scholarly disciplines and its effect on publishing, information policy, copyright, the interactions of academic reward systems and publishing, and new communication technologies and their potential for providing relief from the crisis in scholarly communication.
